Sustainable Consumption

Sustainable consumption is an increasingly important theme in research and policymaking. It is concerned with identifying the fundamental drivers of consumerism and whether these drivers can be harnessed (or neutralised) in order to move towards a more sustainable society. Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) is about achieving economic growth while respecting environmental limits, finding ways to minimise damage to the natural world and making use of the earth’s resources in a sustainable way. Key topics in this theme include:

• social marketing, and
• policymaking for sustainable consumption
