News An Austrian project (merchant fleet) for tackling at sea floods of waste in the Mediterranean area

The Austrian Research & Development Institute V.F.F. Mare Nostrum designed and developed a project called “VFF Islandhopper Viribus Unitis (V.F.F. MARE NOSTRUM E.V.)” which represents the first naval waste management project organised entirely in compliance with the Open Source Initiative (OSI) guidelines. Even if the Institute remains the sole author and proprietor of the project, at the same time it welcomes the project dissemination for the benefit of the international scientific community, with the aim to support business initiatives for carrying out the building of special ships for innovative waste management and disposal. The above mentioned Institute is available for coordinating all initiatives on this behalf within and outside EU countries as well as on a worldwide level; cooperation is open to single researchers as well as to organizations like R&D centres and universities which are available to participate under the terms set out in the International “Open Source Initiative (OSI) “.
